The restaurant's concept appeals to the urban chicness in everyone. It may be the suburbs, but it feels like SoHo -- seared sushi tuna with mango slaw and soy syrup, baby spinach and grilled peach salad with serrano ham, oven-roasted tomatoes and citrus vinaigrette. Table 28 exemplifies everything that works about the contemporary American restaurant. A well-drawn, excellently balanced menu. Globally inspired, well-prepared cuisine. Hip atmosphere and digs.

The restaurant, which opened last August, is nicknamed after Guadalupe, daughter of owners Bertina and Eladio Ramos, who are originally from Puebla, Mexico. The food is exceptional. There are many dishes here -- quesadillas, enchiladas, tamales -- that have become well-known to the American palate. But there are others -- pipian de pollo, chilaquiles -- that are less familiar.

"It's a little hard to find," she said, "but it's worth it." Tav Vino is a cheerful spot with a neighborhood feel; it has been here 32 years. Tav Vino is homey, even with a vaulted ceiling over the dining areas. The best surprise of all, however, was how well we'd eaten for such a reasonable price.

Tazza has all the feel of a sophisticated haven for artists, and it is.It attracts an eclectic, lively crowd. Tazza calls itself a cafe, but it's also a bar, a breakfast joint and a new lunch spot.
